Regulated yes, but I wouldn't call it "heavily" so, at least not compared to the draconian requirements of HB 197.

Prompted by the notion that "Beauty salons are regulated", I spent all of 5 minutes doing some Google research ... I won't paste in here all the links to the state government websites, but I'll just suggest that one can Google the phrase "Florida regulations for cosmetology salons" and quickly find a good description of the regulatory and licensing requirements. They include such things as "hair must be swept off the floor", "combs and brushes must be kept sanitized", and a host of similar cleanliness requirements associated with a typical beauty salon. There are even certain exceptions for licensing requirements, such as employees engaged solely in "body wraps", or other single service types of salon care.

What you DON'T find in the regulations for Cosmetology Salons are the ridiculous requirements of HB 197 regarding logging of customer names / addresses, or storefront window coverage, or most all of the other aspects of HB 197 that are pretty transparently designed to close AMPs down, or at least make them unattractive to clients.

I'm sure there are as many "ideas" being contemplated by the AMPs as there are AMPs! It's not like they have a union where they can hire a single law firm to lay out an industry wide "work around" to this situation. Some may try (the appearance of) complying with the requirements as written, some may try moving to an Apartment Solution, some may try Cosmetology Licensing, some may try something completely different, and, of course, some will ignore the requirements completely because they may not know any better, or even have highly limited English speaking/comprehension skills (I'm thinking of the very small places for this kind of behavior). Time will tell.
