My own personal experience on going to Bangkok: Almost a thousand dollars in air fare, 24 hours spent travelling each way, and major, major jet lag each way. To me, no pussy is worth all that time and expense. Wouldn't do it again. But that's just one man's opinion, and as they say, YMMV.

Totally understand, it's not for everyone. I know how to beat jet lag, so it's not an issue for me. One needs to go for a minimum of a month to spread out the costs. Bangkok is also more expensive than Pattaya overall. Thailand is not to only place to go however.
