The bank is loaning it to me at 2. 75% and I keep the balance in stocks instead of paying off my mortgage. It doubles every 7-10 years. I've been in stocks for 22 years and the S&P has doubled twice and then some since then. I would LOVE to pay more interest on a new loan if the bank would be dumb enough to lend me money at any interest rate under 5%. Sorry for the rant but this is the same advice I give to my kids and others. Both the difference in rent and average gains from stocks are more than I need for this hobby. I have no choice but to give away the rest to relatives. I didn't discover something new, rich people taught me this when I was a child. It's finance 101.

Let's count our blessings in these times and keep that context in mind. I'm only on my 50th kgirl visit but I would need about 1000 visits before I reach the cost of raising just one child, buying my first house, or getting my first divorce. Each one would be worth the money spent, though.
