What you're experiencing / experienced is happening all over. It's still a viable option if you travel frequently or have the ability to expand your search range 2 hours or so from your home location.

2017 was the last year it was any "good", IMO. The pandemic really put the brakes on our society.

It's funny. I went back and was rereading my old posts and laughed at a post I had from the 2017-2018 timeframe saying I thought we were at the top of the market. Turns out I may have been right. I had never heard of Feeld before today. I got on the web, read their website. It is an app available for both OSs. Why do you say being an app (not a website) is more dangerous? I have put the SA app on my burner phone before. I don't see too big a risk there.

Oh, it isn't the app itself; it's more that the app-based dating services are all organized around photos first and foremost. I've never used a photo on seeking and it's never been an issue since I can approach first and a good screen name and detailed profile do the rest. Admittedly, Feeld is even tougher because its strength (a community of generally open and like minded folks that understand poly and non-monogamous dynamics) also generally don't see the need for discretion.

Separately, though, I also find apps to be a challenge because once you download them, they are always "part of" your history. Sure you can turn off notifications and avoid subscription-based ones, but they are lurking there in the background and I just find they infiltrate so many things more and more these days. For example, Snapchat notifications showing up on your watch even when you turn off banners and such (there's a workaround) or unexpected banner notifications because you accidentally scrolled into a naughty subreddit.

Plus, if you're a married dude, it hard enough to explain away Snapchat or Telegram or a texting app, but it is possible. There's no explanation for a dating app.

My theory is the true hot, young, Babies with banging bodies & open to posing nude, toying or posting vids of them "coupling", are making more money on Only Fans. Without having to make believe they enjoy doing us old, out of shape and in many cases married guys. Especially if they have a following on IG to steer traffic to their OF account.

Just permanently deleted my Seeking account and decided to take a break for a while. I've got a 2+ year steady that I adore here, a new superstar for my work travel destination, and a handful of "in case of fire break glass" black book options. The options on Seeking, at least in the DC area, have really dropped off. It's same faces and figures, over and over again. And mind you. I like playing at the older and curvier end of the pool so it's not like I'm fishing for the same size zero college sophomore as most of you. Not seeing the twenty-something "sick of boys my age and want to explore my daddy issues" or thirty-something "just want a consistent fuck and a little side cash to sweeten the kink" women any more.

My gut tells me that at least part of this is the rise of a broader range of dating apps that cater to no traditional dating. Particularly feeld. I haven't tried it (apps are tough for those with discretion needs) but it seems like the women I do click with (including my awesome SB) are all on there.

The Boston market was more promising but even it has dropped off in quality, too. I was in denial for a while but I think I increasingly agree with many of you. Seeking's best days are far behind us. As for why I deleted rather than deactivated? Home prices have certainly inflated, but not everything has moved higher at the same pace. Providers who rent are certainly paying higher tariffs but providers who own their own place, if they bought pre-pandemic, aren't driven so much by housing costs, rather it's a supply vs demand issue that started as women cut back service during COVID, or took extended absences from the hobby.

Unless or until that calculus changes, the overall price level (for certain categories) is likely to remain elevated. A recession, if we ever get one, could change things. Notice that AMPs are still mostly charging $60-$80 per hour. And extra services, while mostly higher than before, haven't experienced the same kinds of increases. The DMV has always been rather unique in the pricing department.
