From my experience, most won't care, as long as it works.

No ORGs will accept a VOIP number.

I've been using a gvoice number for a long time now.

I use text for 99% of my booking all over the US and have never had issues.

Only time I've had issues are orgs who go through WeChat, since WeChat won't accept VOIP numbers.

If carriers or VOIP providers ever stop supporting text, I'd have to either port the number or let orgs know the number of my hobby phone.

I think they don't. Its best to just text message them on a cel phone. They usually reply pretty quick.
