Yeah, that's why I don't book the room in advance anymore. I just sit in the parking lot, parked in a position I can see the main entrance and wait til I see her pull in, then use an app to book the room when I see her pull in, or as soon as I see her pull in I get out of the car and walk in and just book the room at the desk.

The apps have a "lag time" when booking sometimes which can lead you to standing in the lobby for 10-15 minutes waiting for the reservation to go through, especially if you use one of the 3rd party apps like hotels.com or Priceline. If you use the hotel's official app I've mostly seen rooms book instantaneously. But these days most of the apps only save you a few bucks compared to the "walk in" price, and I'd rather pay the extra $10 and get the room more quickly.
