I don't think it is common. I have been using seeking site for closer to 5 years and have seen closer to 100 girls off the site. Never had anyone trying to blackmail me. Of course different people have different risk levels. I am single and my job is with a private company. They don't give a shit about what I do in my private time. It depends on whether you're willing to put in time and effort. I stopped because of these reasons. Plus crazy ones who try to blackmail you. Never happened to me, but happened to others. So be careful out there. A close friend of mine wanted to get into this hobby and I persuaded against it based only experience. Too much time and money wasted.
