I don't mean to discredit any of the other posters but they are over exaggerating the dangers of walking on 7th Street / Berry / Taylor at day time on Derby or any other day. As long as you aren't walking around with gold chains and stacks of money sticking out your pocket, I don't think anyone is going to pay special attention to you. I've walked on foot through this area plenty of times in the past, even at night, and never had a problem. Unless you want to get robbed and beaten until you are half dead I would just advise you to stay at the track. This is the absolute worst week to go anywhere, especially if you are walking from CD. Normally I would say Deja Vu but now that it burnt down it is just a gravel parking lot.
