West Side. Santa Monica Airport area / Culver City / Mar Vista.

Mid City. Mid Wilshire, Around the area of La Brea / Wilshire near the LA Museum of Art and La Brea Tar Pits.

Downtown. It's usually around K-town and sometimes near the 110 in downtown.

Simple solution is to move to Norcal then if you truly believe cost of living and quality of life is the same.

Cost of living in Nor CA and So Cal is the same except that housing in general is more expensive in Nor Cal by 15%-30% whether you rent or own your property. You can check RedFin for it.
