I completely understand and sympathize with the providers when appointments are made and not kept. But, I do no pay a deposit to my local restaurant, I do not pay a deposit to my dentist, I don not pay a deposit to my doctor, I do not pay a deposit to my mechanic. I will never pay a deposit as it only set a precedence and it will foster scammers to abuse it. Sure if you had the real names or address of those providers it makes sense, but you don't, therefore sending money to a unknown is just stupid. In case anyone looks this up, Julia requires a deposit. She could be completely legit; I know some legit providers have started requiring deposits for new clients. I have a cash only policy, though, so all I can say for certain is that we weren't able to work out an arrangement to meet.
