I think the thing is that we have a classic supply-and-demand situation. We are the demanders and the local girls are the suppliers. Some shops realize they make more money by keeping their prices low ($40) but make it up in volume, whereas other shops charge $50-60, but they sit around checking their social media many more hours per day.

In the same way with the services provided by the girls, they have upped their prices. By themselves for no other reason than they wanted more money. This is an effort to provide a feedback loop to let them know they need to do a course correction, otherwise they can sit around with no customers more often, and their bottom line will suffer.
