Your point is somewhat valid but let's be real, the risk of contracting stds through oral sex is magnitudes less than with penetrative genital sex. The main reason being that stds are generally passed through open cuts / wounds / etc exacerbated by the friction of penetrative sex opening lesions. Oral sex has the benefit of greatly improving lubrication, less likely to tear any lesions (please don't do it if you see something LOL), and is less penetrative so you can see all the parts you are touching.

None of this is an advertisement for practicing unsafe sexual practices and I recommend you always exercise the amount of safety you are comfortable with.
