I never give sugar babies my full name except a unicorn that turned into a girlfriend years ago. (It's a shame she moved, but I digress.) However I have often given out my real first name. Do you think that's risky? Do the rest of you give your real first name or use a fake one when chatting with the prospects on Seeking?

Personal preference. I have bowl buddies who use a 'sugar' first name. I personally use my own first name which is insanely common. This is for my personal psyche, one reason I choose sugar dating over more commercial girls (escorts) is that I want the experience to be as real as possible, within the time-frame / other limitations of sugar dating.

I have a very very well developed sugar story and sugar identity that I can rattle off to a girl without even thinking about it. This helps keep me safe despite having a SO. IK SBs who do obvious things, like use their middle names instead of their first names. I had a long-term arrangement w / one of those, after a month or so I asked her real name and she gave it to me. I relatively easily tracked her down and know all about her real private life. Not the reverse. She never need fear anything from me because we are so tight, and she knows that. However, I have so much more to lose than her, I would not give up my real story to her.

I have a bowl buddy who is in GA, likely reads this post. He gave up his full identity to a SB he saw for 3 years, despite his having a family, etc. They were really in an affair, not an arrangement, he rarely gave her sugar. He kept himself secret for a year or so, and her finding out his name happened by accident.

Of course it could be a bit awkward if I did hit it off with one of them, and then have to tell them that, but I think most would understand.

I never give out my first name. It's always "John" when texting both on the system and when we first go to texting off line. After we've met and start seeing each other, at some point I'll give her my real name and tell her the other was a college nickname, which really is true. Also "Big John", after the old song. Few SBs and only some SDs remember that.

Depends on how common your first name is. It's John or Jack or Pete you probably don't have anything to worry about. I used to try and use an alias, but inevitable if I was seeing someone multiple times they'd see my name, either on my credit card when I paid for dinner or I'd just be telling a story and slip and say my name while telling it.

I'd be more concerned if my name was rarer or unique.

Supply and demand. You're in Atlanta. Black SBs are a dime a dozen, as cute if not cuter, and will cost you less.
