I use an ATM card at a bank in town. When doing so, if the ATM presents your CAD withdrawal as an USD-equivalent amount, decline it. The exchange rate they use is nearly always worse than your bank's.

Oh boy, my time to shine. So many good options in Van, because of Canadian laws. I'd recommend skipping the massage fronts all together, since there's no need (due to the more lax laws), and just go straight to escorts. That being said, if you're intent on the massage, there are a tonne of great options, mostly concentrated in Richmond. If you're trying to avoid a bank statement up there, then as soon as you cross the border, there's often a currency exchange stand before you leave the crossing area.

Around 30 years ago I withdrew $20 from an ATM machine in Vancouver BC. Later when I got my bank statement, I noticed that I only withdrew out $14 and some change.
