Do some research on Tijuana. I have been several times and it is so worth it. If you stick to the safe areas, it's probably safer than the areas we regularly venture into in detroit.

I may get over my fear of dropping down into Mexico at some point, but not yet, I know there are some other places (Germany, Philippines, Netherlands, etc etc) that are sex positive and are also good destination without the stigma of safety that comes with Mexico, just a longer flight.
