My guess is, he contacted the ad using his real phone # and put explicit things into text messages. Maybe even "verified" with a selfie.

Scammers then googled his phone #, figured out his real name and identified him on social like Facebook or LinkedIn. Now, they're using that knowledge + his outreach against him.

If so that's a very valuable lesson for everyone. Never use your real phone or email. Get a burner phone or at least use an app like Second Line or Sideline so the contact coming from a different #. Never share your face either just find a picture online and send that.

Most likely he added an extra period at the end of the sentence. Sometimes happens and just edit the link to eliminate the period at the end.
