I completely agree we should never cave in to this practice as there are enough rip-off ads who would take $$ and ghost us.

If guys change their minds, or find a cheaper provider, contact and cancel the original appointment. No harm no foul, everyone wins. Would sending a deposit increase or decrease ghosting? Time management is important. No one likes their time wasted.

I will never give a deposit, because they will rip you off. Why would anyone send a deposit to a complete stranger for a not so legal transaction? Also, their client's failure to show is probably because their posted price is too high and they found something better. Probably is just a guess.
