Legally, "Jose" is committing extortion while use of interstate communications (e.g. texting) elevates this to a federal crime within FBI jurisdiction. Several years ago, there was an 8 Mile club dancer who made a similar threat to her sugar daddy that tried to end their relationship. Sugar Daddy went to the FBI who granted him anonymity while they charged the dancer with various federal crimes. Ultimately, I don't know how the case was disposed because although the complaint was initially viewable on the federal court database, the complaint and case appears to have become sealed from public view soon afterward possibly to protect the sugar daddy since he was the victim.
