Yes, you can Google Walmart money card and apply online, just be careful to retrieve it in the mail in a few days if you are married. Then you load as much as you want using cash or debit card in any Walmart. I think they will, but make sure you know the full list of deposits, taxes, fees, etc for the hotel you want to do, otherwise the balance may not be enough and it will just be declined. Most hotels want to hold a deposit for 'incidentals' (ie mini bar, etc) or to make sure you don't destroy or smoke in the room. It's either fixed ($50 is pretty common), but sometimes can be the equivalent of a night's rate. And of course there are the usual taxes, 'resort fees', etc that get rolled into most hotel stays. So a room with a $90 nightly rate could actually need 150-200 on a card to check in, although the deposit portion of that should get credited back eventually so you'll be able to use the card again.
