You're not wrong, but the fact she cooperated with the Police and threw a bunch of mongers under the bus probably went a long way as well.

Reads like the guy picked up a woman, possibly a streetwalker, in Kansas City, MO and kept her for a month before she escaped.

Playing this game isn't going to end well and I've always wondered when something like this was going to happen. The cops never hassle the trans street walkers nor arrest them. The south and north strolls are full of them. One of the reasons I no longer partake in this activity. They're talking this up in the news as a hate crime. I couldn't agree more with your take on this. More than likely wouldn't get out of his vehicle once he figured out it was a dude and was demanding money to do so and threatening the guy. It can be a really bad scene picking one of these up by accident.
