If this happened you have all the right to claim identify theft amongst those in your life that may receive it. First they bluffing but I've always thought of this did happen from some random source just tell those around you someone is extorting you with fake information and identity theft. I can put together fake emails and text messages if I knew your name doesn't mean you sent it. Be strong and deny.

This type of things pops up on these boards every couple months. There seem to be two common recommendations. One is to ignore the threat even if you are texted again. They will eventually disappear. I think this is the way to go. The other is to text back what A2 just wrote: "Extortion is a felony. If you contact me again, I will contact the police and press charges against you. " Personally, I would not make this move unless they keep pressing you. No matter what, do not send them any money. Enough people have received enough Spam over the years.
