Obligatory NAL. It can happen a variety of ways. To be honest, responding to an ad, especially from a real number, can get you in trouble. With these stings for the most part they want to make arrests and let things get sorted out in court later. It's more work to track you down if you don't show up but it happens. Despite what someone else said, responding to the ad can get you arrested. With a lawyer it won't generally stick though.

The way they get most guys is on the phone or via text you say what you want and then you will generally offer a price (they'll give some prompts) or you'll agree that you are willing to pay for it. I've read of the sting saying a price and then guys getting arrested for agreeing. With a lawyer you'll probably get off since you didn't solicit but you'll still get arrested. From there most stings I read or hear of take place in the room. You go in and either they get you right away or a decoy gets you to put money down. I've also heard of guys getting arrested in the parking lot but charges for those guys are often dropped later. The long and short is that you never really know what's going to happen so probably best to try dealing with known prostitutes or agencies and just hoping for the best.

My advice is to use a voip number, only give your real details to agencies you have a bit of faith in and be willing to go home if things don't feel right. I also like to scope out the parking lot first and I never show up on time. Generally I text when I'm 5-10 minutes out or when I've been in the parking lot for a few minutes. If I'm really sketched out I walk away or tell them to meet me at a side door.
