Have not posted in a bit but decided to check out the Broadway scene this Saturday when I spotted Jennifer, who has been posted about before. You’ve hit the preverbal nail on the preverbal head. That’s the whole point, exactly. Dressed in her very normal looking street clothing Gaetana didn’t look like much. On other circuits, SWers often walk dressed in obvious SWer type fashions. On Broadway and Kensington Avenue they do not dress provocative and with good reason. Both Broadway and Kensington Avenue are located in family shopping areas. If the prettier street girl started to flaunt their bodies and lovely shapes, sticking out looking like common street hookers, surely that would encourage the local ladies and do gooders to be even more resentful then they already are. Under the current dress codes, at best the local SWers are tolerated, sometime taunted but they have not been banished. Sure the average SW is trying to get our attention, but it benefits them not to draw to much attention to themselves. Another case in point: while trying to attract us, they are also trying to avoid local LE, the warrant unit, people they owe money, family and friends, and the people at the rehab centers and churches where they often go for food and help.

From a distance, I couldn’t tell whether Gaetana was working or not. As I got closer she looked less appealing, with the hood up and dressed in loose, baggy pants that made her look like she had no ass or shape. As I drove pass I could not see her face but decided to pull over anyway. If she had had an ugly face I would have declined and waved her off.

Even so, in the car I could only determine that she was cute and had a fairly nice attitude. Out on the streets you live and die by the decisions you make. There is not sure fire ways of telling what you’ve gotten yourself into until you are into it. Ok! I know what everyone is thinking. What mother names her baby girl, “Superhead?” Okay! Let me try to clear that one up.
