I went into a very detailed explanation so as to not bog down this thread. The thing to remember is that massage is a licensed profession (actually not a license in CA, it's a "certification" here, but that's another very complicated subject that I won't get into). In California, certification is handled by the California Massage Therapy Council. It's a civilian organization, not a government organization (that may change after this year but I'm actively working to fight against it). Because it's a licensed profession, there are certain rules and regulations that have to be followed when you hire or fire a massage therapist. If you fire someone for anything of sexual misconduct nature, and that would include giving a happy ending, then you have to report it to CAMTC, who in turn does a full investigation and takes whatever disciplinary action is necessary, which is usually a suspension or revocation of their certificate. With no certificate, they are unable to get another job as a massage therapist. CAMTC isn't taxpayer funded. It's paid for by the therapists' certification and renewal fees. There's also a new nationwide employment verification database forming. It hasn't been fully rolled out yet but will be before year end, basically to catch any incidents that the state licensing agencies may have missed, or catching those who get in trouble in one state and try to get re-licensed in another.

I'm sure this is a well worn path, but I only recently saw ava for the first time after years of seeing her ad and passing her over for other better options. There's a huge difference between a massage therapist and an instacart driver making an extra stop at 7-11 on the way to delivering your groceries. Massage is a licensed profession. They have to go to school and maintain a license in order to practice their trade. If they screw up and get their license suspended then they have to find a new way to make a living. Instacart drivers aren't going to get fired for making an extra stop for something other than groceries, and they aren't even employees. If something happens to them they just find another delivery service to work for.
