Contrary to this post, most are not owned by the same person. Very few here own more than one spa in the Detroit area.

I have several examples of multi location one owner and / or multi location that workers go between or network so it is natural that they share info from one place to the next. It's a small world in the AMP business.

Point was, if most places raise their prices it's not price fixing. I buy 2 x 4's at Home Depot one day, go to Lowes the next and the price is higher, check internet while I'm there and sure as shit HD price is now higher too. It's called knowing your competition, not price fixing.

But yes, I would argue that at least 50% own more than one location.

My flight was delayed so I had a few hours to kill. I took an Uber to Healing Plus which is not far from the airport. This place is beautiful. Nicely furnished and very clean. Service was subpar at best. I've been at the hobby for 7 years or so and my days of mongering are slowly coming to an end. I'm doing my best to see all the popular providers that I haven't seen, before I call it quits for good. If any senior member could send me Nuru Ladys information that'd be awesome, pm please.

Just in case this wasn't sarcasm, many of these places are owned by the same person, do raising the rates at all of their establishments and others following suit as they surely will is not price fixing. No more than one gas station raising or lowering prices and others falling in line. Many of these places have been at 60/65/70 for decades do and adjustment, especially given the times, is expected. I've noticed that many are asking / expecting the standard tip to be $50 now too. So now the going rate for a massage and handy will be 120-130.

I think most of us still went the AMP route for the lower price and convenience of walk in or at least easy setup. But more and more the independent options like Bonita, Lisa or Jenny are more appealing. A little extra $ with them goes much further.
