If you're a respectable looking guy, visit some places and ASK THEM if there is an "alternative" to providing a license (no need to explain why). They already do a key deposit, maybe they'll take a larger deposit in lieu of the license. I'm sure that more than a few places have a higher "no license rate", ahem, I mean a tip / bribe for their trouble.

A possible problem with an alternative is that it's dependent on who you talk to. Maybe "Mom" says sure, but "Pop" says get lost.

Too bad some hotels just don't have that policy. Like you said, they don't have your credit card, so having a copy of your license gives them little leverage if you pay cash for the room. Which is best way.

I have not gone to a lady's house, or hotel. It feels really unsafe, and open to so many problems that are lessened by renting a room. Who is in the bathroom, or the room next door, who is already watching her location, etc. , - to name just a few. Staying in the car seems safer, although less comfortable. But much more control over the situation.

I have wondered about using a fake license, or I'd, but know nothing about them, or what kind of trouble it could get someone into for using it?

I believe you need to remove the battery. Or wrap it in two layers of aluminum foil. LOL.

Once a week, You should chop the burner phone into 100 pieces. Put each piece in a different dumpster, in a different state, on a different day.

This is a bit different. It has to do with phones pinging.

So I have some history that might help. First, the burner phone is where you start. Can't buy it in your own name or address attached. Never contact friends family or work with the phone. Switch it off and take the battery out when not in use. Make sure it's prepaid but don't load a bunch of minutes. Switch phones often. Don't use it when you have your regular phone is with you. Never have it turned on or the battery in it when you have your regular phone with you. Always avoid having both phones with you if possible. Switch phones often. Destroy the burner when done and dispose of it away from your general and most common areas. Store a minimal amount of numbers. This is the closest you'll get to being"dark". Hope it helps, it's worked for me.

On a side note here's another thing I don't like about text apps. You have to use the number every 30 days or so or else you will lose it. I've had the same burn phone number for over 10 years so I will get calls from girls out of the blue that I haven't seen in a year or two if / when she falls off the wagon. The ads on the text apps are a PITA and they eat the shit out of your data. I use a text app on my burn phone just until I know the girl is worth seeing again then I give her the burn phone number. What text apps aren't a PITA or are they all like that?

I know what you mean. The short stay places are good enough for a "short stay". (Note, the dollar amounts here are normal, not the stupid code some think is "cool").

EZ-Rest Motel. Telegraph, just south of 9-Mile (Southfield). 3 hours (anytime) $28 + $2 key deposit. I've been there many times. No problems.

(Forgot the name) on Grand River. Few blocks EAST of Telegraph (Detroit). Last July it was 3 hour $30 + $5 key deposit (don't know if it's only certain hours). Been there once. No problems.

Dorchester Motel. Grand River between Inkster and Beech Daly (Redford). I stopped in to ask, but never stayed there. They have a different set up, where you can stay "most" of the afternoon for a reasonable rate (don't remember the exact hours or the price).

Bahama Motel. Grand River just north of 8-Mile (Farmington Hills). Last July it was $40-45 I think.

Out of curiosity, I stopped at a few other nearby places and they were in the $40 - $50 range. None of the "chain" motels that I checked offered short stays.

This is the same reason that we get ads on the web for products that don't interest us, but do interest friends and family because our phones were nearby. Our phones travel and leave bead crumbs, even those burner phones. No, our phones do not listen to us, they don't need to; they use all of our apps, actions, and searches that we already provide them. Maybe some mongers are current / former spooks (spies) or IT security specialists, criminals who really know the ropes, most mongers can't cover their tracks that well.

There is a false sense of security with a burner phone as well, if the police get involved. If you carry your regular cell phone with you along with your burner, carriers will be able to link the two.

I understand your logic here but the chances of that happening are extremely low in comparison to the chances of your significant other finding a second phone, which will most definitely happen sooner than later.

I am a bit of a worrywart and I'm really not worried about anyone finding it so for me a burn phone is the best choice. But I do see your point about a significant other finding a second phone.
