Good point. Safety and reliability are important to me but I have several others (all have been reviewed here by me or others) that I can see for the same $. If they all go up then that's an issue.

With 'regulars' I usually just give them the number they first quote me and never ask them again for a price. I only had one situation years ago where a woman asked me for more, but then she was letting me do greek on her as a new experience. There are some providers that I haven't seen in a while and ask them to confirm their prices by giving them the original number they quoted, e. G. 120 for half, right? If they challenge, I may give it to them or I'll balk a bit and they usually back down.

That's what I do as well. Today she came back with a higher price and no backing off when I quoted our previous agreement. I have always been nice to her. I could see if I was a jerk to her but I wasnt.
