Possible they were trying to clean up for a parade.

I saw heavy duty fencing on some sidewalks. Looks like maybe preparing for a parade and just wanted to clean up a bit for optics.

Since the 1990's? I cruise alot Okee for work and errands and just recently seen SW walk from Chesapeake Motel down to my favotire mash motel The Nexx. I maybe see a walker maybe 2 on the 10 times I wander there. Compared to Uni and 88 street that is about 8 out 10 times I pass by the area. Guys, I decided to take a cruise after the rain (6-8 pm) down Uni, 79th st, and even Okeechobee and there are DTs eveywhere. I don't know what's going on but they are in civilian vehicles pulling people over. I've seen about 5 instances already.
