She wanted the kids because she was living in YWCA housing and if she had the kids she would move to the top of the line on the public housing waiting list. In addition, since she wasn't able to work (she was considered "disabled" due to her drug addiction), so she would have received about $2 K / month in child support from me on top of her SSI and EBT. $35,000 in attorney fees later, I got to keep the kids. But only because they told the court appointed social worker (that I had to pay for) that they would run away from home if they had to live with their mother.

I fucking hear you man. We (the western world) have a long way to go in terms of gender equality. It used to be that women could not vote and go out and get a job etc etc and that was terribly wrong. We needed to fix that. But what the hell did we end up doing instead of fixing the problem. It is more or less reversed now. If there is only position open in a large corporation.
