Let's face it, most tattoos are incredibly tacking for the most part. There are some that are tasteful and I admit that I do like to see a girl with a full arm sleeve, because it's usually well thought-out.

Tattoos on the neck, thigh, face, chest. For me, it's a huge turn-off.

While we're on the subject of body modification; piercings. Septum, cheek, bridge of the nose, nipples, clit. Huge turn-offs.

Finally, ear loops are incredibly stupid.

It's hard for me to ever imagine taking people seriously with these modifications. It screams to me. Low-level IQ and low-level jobs or zex work for the rest of their lives.

I am amazed by the different narratives based on the messaging you get, and social standards. I live in a free state. Everyone is free to mask or not, it's personal. No mandates on business, schools are mask free. Yes, there's a bit more disease, but not that much but everyone is happy, non judgmental, businesses are thriving, kids are happy and just as healthy as Washington kids. High school athletics did not miss a game. Long story short, life is normal. I'm vaxxed, but most of my friends are not. They've all gotten sick and recovered. I'm getting a Moderna booster after Christmas so I'm pro vax for older people and anti vax for under 30. My feeling is that the Democratic leaders are peddling fear to exercise power over their people and the news media peddles fear and drama to peddle their product. I feel bad how much damage it's done to the citizens of WA, my former home.

Yes, in 2020 the average age of someone who died of covid was 76. In 2021 that average age was 67.

On top of the survival rate, you have to keep in mind that quite a few survivors (between ten and thirty percent it seems) have long-term health problems. I personally know three people now who are unable to work because of long-term effects of covid. One of them is in his 40's and now needs supplemental oxygen from a cart he hauls around with him and walks with a cane.

And more germane to this forum, one of the more common long-term side effects for men is erectile dysfunction.

I'll take my chances with the vaccines and wearing a mask over running the risk of not being able to get it up.

I too am vaxxed, boosted and moderately concerned, but am pretty confident that if I contract the virus my symptoms will be mild. I plan to live my life without taking unnecessary risks: masking in public when indoors, being very selective in the hobby (I always am anyway), avoiding large indoor gatherings like sporting events and concerts. A healthy level of concern is smart, but if you've done what you can to protect yourself and those you care about, then excessively worrying isn't good for ones mental health.

My rant would be about the anti-vax crowd like my friends 40 yo daughter in law who has 'done her own research' and concluded the vaccine was developed too quickly to be safe. I wonder if the imminent Omicron tsunami has her re-thinking her position. One can only hope.

That's how I feel. I just want to do what I want to do. If it means that I have to get a vaccine, then so be it. Right now, I enjoy going to concerts, hanging out at bars, going to the gym, traveling internationally, as well as many other things. I have numerous friends that have lost their jobs, lost their business (ridiculous) and sit at home by themselves because they've got in their head that the vaccine is unsafe and will kill them. What's going to kill you is being fucking miserable every day and not enjoying the short amount of time that you have on this earth for some irrational fear of a vaccine.

I get why, what with our media being 24/7 panic porn these days, but original covid had a 99.7% survival rate. Average age of someone who has died with covid in the us is in the mid 70's.

Unless your daughter in law has co-morbidities she has nothing to fear from any strain of Covid. Also, while N95 masks might have helped, the filthy strips of t-shirt cloth people actually wear do so little that it's easy to find studies that, due to the margin of error, the effect of the masks was statistically irrelevant. Everyone should proceed as they see fit to protect themselves. But this virus is now endemic. Which means think of it like the flu. You will get it eventually. All these restrictions are only serving to destroy people mental health, especially children. Omicron is so mild doctors in South Africa are calling it a natural vaccine. It's time to end all restrictions. Hell, there are many states with no restrictions already, and they are doing better than some states with crazy restrictions. Arizona and Florida comes to mind.

Wonder how folks feel about the Omicron variant. Myself, even though I am "tripley" vaccinated, I still have some concerns. One thing, though, is that I seem more and more restrictions on the horizon as this disease spreads, and it could be worse than last year. One thing I would like to see is for providers' prices to go down. Sure did not happen much at all after the Delta variant. But then there are these rookie high tech folks who continue to pay the ridiculous rates.
