Also check the area codes, most of the scam ads use area codes I've never heard of and definitely not local to the west coast.

Never pay in advance. With Zelle and CashApp it's nearly impossible to get the money back once you sent it. E-Bay gift card, once you give that number, it's gone. Out of respect for some women on the other site, giving $50 in advance is fine as long as they've been around forever. No one is going to destroy their business over $50, but I'd say the vast majority of requesting funds in advance is a scam.

I want to add one more thing.
