Does anyone use these instead of an actual burner phone? Which do you think is safer from LEO etc.

A burner phone will be something cheap anyway so likely low security. I prefer apps.

I have used TextFree for years. (used to be called Pinger). It's brilliant. You pick a number based on the area code you want, and it's completely independent of your actual phone number. Also, providers and others can't tell it's fake. You can text and call from it. Google voice is good but if you know a few things you can figure out it's a google voice number. Also, you can change numbers very easily. Delete the app and download it again and you can pick a new number and all your texts and vms are wiped from the old number.

They can also tell if Textfree is fake just as google voice. That goes with all voip services. There are websites / tools to check.

I can attest to Cici / Cindy from Oak Park. I had the strangest experience with her when she was in the shop in Oak Park.

The first time I went there, I reckonized her from somewhere, but could not figure out where. They all for the most part do the same thing. Texts / calls under a separate number over IP. None are really any safer from LE than another. I've tried several and for me it boiled down to features. For example, TextNow deletes pictures after 30 days, and there is no full text search. Google Voice has great search and pics / vids don't get deleted which is all very helpful over time. And cost. Many want to charge you and have added features like multiple lines. Fine if that's what you need but I don't and Google Voice is the best free one of them in my experience. I keep TextNow hanging around as a second burner for far chicks and those types LOL.

Call in advance. I had the same thing happen roughly around 6 pm. I think they were servicing someone else at the time.

I've used google voice for years, for me it's more to prevent the provider from being able to search my phone # and it coming back with my life story. Unless your provider ends up dead LEO is not going to search her phone records.

Free and easy to use with a dummy Gmail account that's just as easy. Good for calls and texts. Just be sure to open your phone or laptop browser in private / incognito mode and then close the tab when done so you don't leave a trail. It's also pretty easy to take the Gmail account on / off your phone in less than a minute.
