I never paid for platonic dates (except the drinks / dinner / coffee and maybe uber fees). I was really tempted a couple times, when the girls looked hot in the pics, but managed to push back every time.

There was discussion in the past, don't remember if it was here or ThE otheR forum, about perils of video conference. Conclusion was that video conference is too risky, not recommended, even more so if you have a significant other. The video can be recorded and used for nefarious purposes against you.

I would try every couple of weeks you never know what mood you catch all them in. Holiday season is coming so mongers get busy and have least time to play with babies so that is an open time to grab busy ones.

Oh yeah, they are getting smarter by long roping for a venmo or cashapp (and smarter that the photos on their profile are doctored which makes them harder to cross reference in search), because you'll also probably be less likely to report them after a day or two of sweet talking as supposed to within the first 10 minutes asking, 'Hey, can you send me $25? I'll send you nudes!
