Check out dayuse.com or hotelsbyday.com. I've booked a room at the Hyatt near Metro hospital for the day. I think check in was at 10 am and checkout was 6 pm the same day. Rate was around a 100 though.

If she is reliable, you could check in the night before. Worst case, you're only out a few bucks if the place is cheap.

Guessing that may not be a great option. So you could simply check in early in the morning. Most places will check you in as soon as they have a room available. So if they had some rooms free from the night before, you should be able to grab a room at 9 am.
