Anyone have any idea why the talent in Michigan is so lacking compared to other states?

Michigan just isn't a destination market. In my experience, people from Asia have never heard of Michigan. Some are familiar with Detroit, due to auto supply lines. Most here I have talked to landed here because some family relation already lived in the area. Those who come on their own want to be in a famous locale, I. E. NY, Florida, CA, or a place with a social safety net, like Chicago's Chinatown. Detroit has a rather large Asian community, but it's spread out, and the lack of public transport means having to own a car (difficult for those with limited English skills).

I would not agree. If you try and get a legit massage at a typical AMP rub and tug you will not get as good a massage as at a conventional place. The girls working there do not have that type of training.

Hit and miss, for sure. There are some absolutely fantastic massage providers at are&T places. Some of them have extensive training, even higher than CMT-level, in their home countries before arriving in the USA. Try Amy at Commerce, or Sophia at Thai DDS. Be prepared for some level of pain, but you'll feel fantastic for days afterwards. Keep hydrated. As always, your YMMV.

I'm no heejung, clearly, but it's one of my regular haunts and I have been there a few times recently. I don't think much has changed honestly, except for the curtains, which I don't like but have gotten used to. Hannah is still there, still giving great massages and looks are good (obviously rating is against typical detroit area offering). Saw Ellie the last 2 times. Also really good massage, and personally I think she's the best looking provider I've seen there (again. On the detroit area scale.
