Same here. I almost never bring it up before the appointment. Always prefer to do it in person, it also gives you the ability to read the situation and then assess if it even makes sense to ask. Lately I do not hobby much, so the few times that I do, I only see women that I know (I. E. Multiple reports or intel from a trusted source). At that point I already know my odds are 80+ of her either saying yes or it will just happen very naturally without discussion. Again there are instances where you are almost certain it will work out and she does not allow it. That's just life.
