Korea and US have a visitor visa program. It is an instant visa for tourist up to 90 days. Anyone from Korea can obtain that and usually no hassle. Now, it is near impossible unless you have a real reason to come to the US that is not just tourism. A job, a family sponsor, fiance, school program (not fake school visa). Highly unlikely they can be approved.

As for being deported for waiting to pickup a friend. Pretty dumb for a illegal immigrant to go pick up her friend who is trying to enter the US under false pretense as a tourist. Airports use facial recognition software and they do monitor those waiting to pick up their loved ones. It is likely she looked suspicious for waiting too long and they face matched her as illegal immigrant who was on a visa overstay. Never get too comfortable as an illegal. She should have stayed far away from an airport where at any moment a US customs official can question you for paperwork.
