They take 50% of the house fee and keep the tip. Even without doing anything extra funky, she will get 90 from a 60-min appointment (assuming that a handy is 60 now at most places). If she has 5 appointments a day, and this is quite realistic when she works from 9 to 9, it comes to 450 dollars a day, and to 13,500 a month (if she really works every day), and to 162,000 a year. It's highly unlikely though that she really works every day. But it would be safe to assume that your AMP friend makes much more than 90% of the board members here. If she does more than providing handies, her income goes up accordingly. Didn't you notice that many permanently based providers (not those coming from NYC) drive very nice cars and often come to the shop in designer clothes and accessories (think of Burberry or Versace)? She is fine. Don't worry about her.

Well for starters they are not compensated for their time. AFAIK no customers = no money. My understanding based on casual observation is that they split the house fee getting somewhat less than 50% but the tips are 100% their own. In 10+ years I have never seen a provider who gave any indication she was not free to leave if she wanted.
