The suit also claims that local police officers were complicit in protecting the trafficking ring from authorities, in exchange for sexual services. It alleged that two Fairfax County police officers alerted Sanchez when the department would be doing sex trafficking stings and tipped her off about when they would be searching sites like Backpage.com and Eros.com, where she allegedly advertised her services. In exchange, the suit states, "Sanchez made Jane Doe available to them for sexual services gratis."

I can honestly say that every provider I have ever met told me that their activities were their choice. Most have financial goals, most were single by choice, and seemingly made their own choice to do whatever they do. I can say that I am pretty good friends with a few in VA, NY, PA, and abroad, and this was a choice. The ones abroad all had control of their passports and although committed to a place for x time, were in control. The mind of a provider is an interesting place I may add.

Posts: 185Ahh the Clifton farmhouse. I have been there as well. That was one of the more interesting visits I have made in my day.

Indeed I wonder how many stings Fairfax County police are carrying out. I also wonder if the evidence from those stings could potentially be ruled inadmissible if investigators confirm cops had sex with females suspected of being trafficking victims.

I can't recall ever having visited Hispanic providers in apartments and condos around Fairfax. However, I've paid plenty of visits to Asian crapshoot providers as well as the Asian MILF's who worked in Northern Virginia a few years back. I also once visited the infamous Clifton farmhouse. I hope and pray none of those providers were trafficked against their will.

Posts: 2686And Fairfax cops were protecting actual traffickers
This was an actual abusive trafficking operation, where the women were lured from Costa Rica with promises of legit work, then shown pictures of their children back home and warned that they'd be harmed if the women didn't work for them. They'd hold the women's passports to keep them from leaving.

I wonder which Fairfax condo this was, and hope I didn't go to any of their locations. Anyone recognize details of which outfit this was?
Here's the FBI affidavit for the criminal complaint, detailing the operation.

The sad part is that this is someone who actually used threats and fear to intimidate women, and she barely did two years in prison. Meanwhile, the cops arrest people seeking to engage in consensual activity, announce "anti-trafficking arrests," and the media unquestioningly reports it.

Posts: 185Wow. Fairfax County Police? That's fucked. Also makes me wonder how many stings Fairfax has going on right now. Maybe I'll just stick with agencies now.

I posted under Va. Beach a few days ago, you have to remember owners own more than one spa, and in different states, keep head on swivel.

Posts: 281First rule is to always keep your mouth shut. Unless you're being detained, you don't have to answer any questions. They can't prove what you were doing there unless they have cameras set up, which is illegal.

Thanks for the info, but that would be much more useful to mongers heading to eastern North Carolina than mongers in this area. Still, this reminds us we always need to be vigilant when visiting our favorite AMP's and other places.

Posts: 654It's all about the money
It's all about low hanging fruit, Police patrol low income areas and arrest people on minor offenses to rack up fines and demonstrate to the "Good" people that their tax dollars are making a difference. They set up prostitution stings for the same reason. Results mean an easier time getting budget requests. Same with Civil forfeiture and officers dedicated to speed traps all in the interest of "Public Safety" when it is really about the money. As far as ruining lives, posting mugshots of Johns in a sting for a misdemeanor offense serves no benefit but to embarrass and intimidate.

Do-gooders who label all sex for pay as "human trafficking," regardless of whether any actual human trafficking is occurring, have emerged as the primary forces against legalization. We'll see what the courts do.

After all, that seemed like the next logical step. Today I'm not so sure. District attorneys choosing not to prosecute prostitution cases is a small step, but that still doesn't stop our least favorite uncle from making arrests and ruining people's lives.
