In my experience, gift cards are usually scams. I don't have much experience with these cards other than giving them around holidays or birthdays so I decided to follow one down the rabbit hole. I contacted provider, after some back and forth, she requested gift card deposit or payment. I initially feigned refusal, but she was motivated. First she wanted a picture of the card. I happened to have an old AMEX card handy so I sent the picture. She then requests a picture of the back of the card. OK. Now "I need you to scratch off the numbers on the back of the card and send me a picture of those. " No way--once the provider has the numbers, they can use the card as though they had it in hand. I imagine this could play out differently if you actually meet in person and physically hand the card to the provider, but its not safe for "deposits..

Gift cards before you meet are always a scam. I, too, spent some free time playing out this scam to its end with two separate persons. In both cases, a legitimate address was given me, and I took the trouble to drive to each location. One was behind an electronically controlled gate in secured community, so I knew that was proof of a scam, especially when she texted that she would let me in from her porch; in the other, I was parked in front of the house and could see a large fat man through the pictures window while she was telling me to send her a photo of the card with numbers scratched.

Depends on your comfort level with Detroit working class neighborhoods that are still struggling with various issues. I'm ok with all of it, and yall will laugh, but I actually went this time in the late afternoon by bicycle why not, Detroit is flat with low traffic and a lot of new-ish bike lanes and it's a good workout to get the juices going ha ha.

In the summer daylight it's an active street with lots of teens and kids playing and people hanging out on their porches and front yards, so if you don't like driving up and parking and being seen by many people, especially if you're driving a nicer car, you might want to wait until night. You can always scope it out first to assess against your own comfort level. In the past I've driven and parked there at night (but I drive an older car) and not felt any worries; again, I may or may not be more comfortable than somebody else.

I agree, except maybe not the part about cycling at night in Detroit to a date. When Nikki was active a few years ago, I bicycled to her Warrendale address from home in about twenty minutes. Dude you keep striking out because you are ignoring the warning signs and letting the small head control everything frankly I one that if I see a warning sign of BS I walk, also I don't know how many times this has been said but never pay up front, but here's a piece of advise when the old my roommate or brother needs the room scam comes up never be afraid to say well hey let me just call the police and have them sort this out make a show of dialing 911 that will clear shit up really quickly. They're not going to want to deal with the police calling on a hang up call because they grab you phone bare minimum you walk away with your cash.

I'm thinking more of when you show up (or they show up) and you realize that the girl just isn't at all what you were looking for, not even enough to just have an average or below average date, but if the photos weren't totally misleading and you were just imagining something a little more. Then that's on us and we should pay $20-40 cancellation fee. If it's threats and whatnot, forget it, I'm out of there.
