Just lost my best friend in Nov. It was truly hard and still not over it. And believe me your 8. 5 yr old is not going g to want a puppy around d 24/7. Especially in a yr from now.

That's for sure. Every time I've lost one it takes me a long time to be ready for another one. I look at my 1 year old pandemic pup now and dread the day he'll get old and decrepit. They sure are big brown fur balls of happiness though.

Just heard from Ryann. Her dog is still with us. He's an old boy, and his health is indeed waning, but he's alive. Good news for Ryann (and the pup).
