Cops and someone from city of westland came to her house and basically told her no messages out of home in westland. It spooked her bad.

It is usually illegal to run a business from a residential property if it involves foot traffic. Like any AMP, you the customer, won't have an issue unless you get caught in the act or fold like a lawn chair when the cops threaten you.

They do pedicures at PT. You are going for a pedicure. And even if you are "caught in the act" there is no crime in 2 people doing what they do. There would need to be explicit implication (recorded audio) of you doing something for $. You paid for a massage and it lead to something more. That's how it happens there.

You guys are paranoid. Heck I got a little shaken up when a guy in a uniform (as I look more closely it's a security / money guard, not a cop) walks thru the back door with another woman just ahead of me. So I thought for a minute some kind of setup? But know, he's either taking his girlfriend to get her nails done if he is there for a pedicure too.

I have a friend in Lansing who recently opened a massage and nail spa. She gave all the plans to the township for permits and approvals. Says right on the plans (signed by the city), massage room 1, massage room 2, front desk, etc. Spends the $$$ to remodel and open shop. 2 weeks later she gets a notice from the township to cease operations as an "adult only business" within so many feet of residential area, yada, yada. Just around the corner is a known rub and tug (plus extras) that's existed for years. They have many ladies thru that place that is a sign of human trafficking. Anyhow, they exist but my friend who has a massage license gets closed down from the same people that approved her business in the first place. So who knows what governments and PD are thinking. She is in the process of suing the township (as she is stuck in a 2 year lease).

As long as YOU are doing nothing illegal (getting a massage is not illegal) then YOU have nothing to worry about. This is not a place that asks you what you want and then discuss $. Never a talk about $ for services here. If you are discussing $ for services with anyone you don't know, well you are just not thinking with the right head.

What's protocol if we visit the house and get stopped by an friendly LEO? I understand neighbors aren't keen on the traffic but is it illegal for us to get a massage in a house?

Because she does not have a business license to do massage technically yes it is but I figure you can just play it off as you are friends or a couple or she is giving you personal training.

The PD's have better things to do than spend their time busting establishments that provide the type of service provided by a rub-and-tug. They will not intervene unless there's evidence of Human trafficking or public complaints.

I think there's more to it then that, those establishments always get complaints from neighbors or nearby businesses. Some go years without being raided. Others don't.
