I've been told that a cop is not allowed to purchase anything over 5. 00 or they usually won't agree to anyways. I have no idea if it's true or not. If they ask for something I just agree and tell them I forgot when I get there if they ask. Nine times out of ten they don't ask for it when I get there anyways. They also believe that nonsense that if they ask a cop if he is LE that he is honor bound to tell the truth. And if the scammer can get $30 "for gas" from 5 different guys, that's $150 for a lot less effort on their part then making $150 by spending an hour with a monger.

These are just wild guesses as to why a provider would ask a client to buy cigarettes. Firstly, I agree with OP, who said being asked to buy anything is a no-go.

* She likely is just stalling the incoming client. Sending him on an errand keeps him away from her door until she is finished with the guy she is with. It also occupies his mind. Therefore, he doesn't just sit in a parking lot and get second thoughts or "buyer's remorse" about her.

* Or, she is working behind a significant other's back. "I'm going to get cigarettes" could be a lie she told someone to explain a missed call, or her not being where expected, etc. Your cigarettes can later be used as evidence.

* Or, as you said, it's an LE check. Stings often have strict steps of action, and / or timing. Would a cop go outside of the parameters of "the mission" to get some smokes?

For a cash app chargeback, there are extra steps to "document" the transaction. That is, you have to tell exactly what the transaction is for. And, cash app's customer support (a human) evaluates the situation (the assumption is the party is a business) to see if a chargeback is warranted. Even if cashapp customer service approves the chargeback, they say it will take 10 days to return the money to you.

The problem I see, from the point of view of the "hobby," is getting Cash App customer service to agree that it was a faulty BUSINESS transaction.

Imagine having to explain, type, or mail a letter stating "I sent 250 'roses' to a 'provider' in a locale in which that is illegal. Per cash app site a transfer is instantly processed and extremely hard to reverse, if not possible. The accounts do appear in theory can be traced by law enforcement, but not easily. A search warrant is required. A significant amount of these scams are run by prisoners in. Prison. We all know the scam signals: poorly worded. Vague location. Ridiculously low prices. Deposits. Any ad that is instagram / snap chat only, no phone number available or provided is very suspicious. It's hard to consistently answer a contraband phone in prison.
