I've never heard of a situation where somebody paid in advance and things went well. Perhaps whoever is on the other end of that phone number is not even in the state, maybe not even in USA. The advertiser may actually be some disgusting old man in India.

Advance pay scams can come in many forms. One such form is directing you to buy a gift card before arrival and then send photo of the card and the receipt. Once "she" has the information in that photo, she doesn't need anything else to get her payment.

Keep in mind what the streetwalker posters say: never pay up front.
