The media is going crazy with the idea that all AMP workers are virtually prisoners working in sweatshop conditions. That may be true in some places but I have never seen this in NoVa. Instead I see many AMP masseuses driving Lexus, BMWs, Range Rovers, etc, Many end up buying spas or legit businesses. Before the pandemic, business was booming in Nova. AMPs allow women without legit business skills to easily make a 6 figure income. They can make as much in 1 hour as a retail or clerical worker makes in a day. I like to see the media report this reality. On the flip side, this all gets financed by the excessive fees paid by mongers for frequently subpar service by 50 year old women. For some of you, that's atleast thousands of dollars a year or more. Who is exploiting whom?

Covid 19 came out of the wet market in Wuhan where they routinely slaughter wild and domestic animals on the same blocks which has caused several avian flu's to emerge from China. The below article is from 2006 and was published by the National Institute of Health. It's not effected by corona hype, it was literally predicting what happened last year.

To put it in another way, if you have an unfenced ground level swimming pool in your back yard and people keep drowning in it because it's unfenced at what point do you become responsible for those deaths? China was clearly aware of the hazard posed by the wet markets, in this instance they had been warned of the covid 19 threat by a doctor who was subsequently jailed and then most likely killed, they didn't prevent the mass exodus that happens every year with Chinese New Year knowing about the danger posed.

I'm a lifelong lefty so I'm not following the MAGA guy, at what point do you say, "yeah China was clearly negligent as a government and needs to pay?" I don't hate Chinese people either so this isn't racist crap, they knew about the hazard and did nothing to mitigate it, in fact they still aren't, those wet markets are still open, still doing business in exactly the same way. So yeah, it's the Chinese Virus and they probably need to pay for it.

You are correct that not all mongers get their mugshots posted. I would guess on average, the local news run two "prostitution arrests" stories each year where they post photos as a way to deter people. The bigger issue is that if you are ever arrested (even if not convicted), your names comes up on future google searches with the prostitution charges for your future employers, your spouse, your kids, your neighbors, etc to see.

No doubt lots of virus' come from China and other places as well, but in the year 2020 I think we all know that this is a " China Virus " , and I don't feel racist to describe it as such. The previous poster gave only a few of the many things named by place of origin, if I throw in " Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever " it probably wouldn't be thought that I didn't like people from the Rockies.

This is a terrible tragedy for those involved. As I read about and did some reading including looking at pictures of the AMPs that were involved I was really struck by the contrast of Atlanta versus NOVA. As many of you know our local spots are often very low key, maybe just a number on the door in a multi tenant mixed use low rise office complex. In Atlanta the exteriors and locations scream "look at me." If this goes to trial the defense may very well use the defendant as victim argument talking about his "sex addiction". To make their case they will dig into the details of what goes on at the AMPs and educate the public. There will be consequences.
