On a side note. Why do some ads say "No blocked numbers"? Why would they even care since they're just setting up an appointment.

I use a burner app. A few, actually. I'm not terribly paranoid because I stick with regulars and rarely venture out of that. Although, that's more difficult lately. It's not 100% foolproof ever, like Cleve Loser said, even established providers aren't always safe. I got paranoid once or twice with one of my old regulars. Just the way she texted seemed off and made me nervous. We see it too often, more often they start working with people to rob you rather than the police. But still.

But local APD and whatnot are very rarely going to waste their resources, time, and tax money to track the IP address of a burner app tied to a fake email unless they think you're legitimately involved in some shady crap. They'll grab you in a bust, obviously, but unless you're participating in trafficking kids or something, they're not going to be that interested in wasting their time on you.

And the "blocked numbers" thing is like actually blocking your number. So for them it comes up as "restricted" or "private. " So they want to see an actual phone number. Which text apps come up as a real number. It's rare but some girls will say "no text apps" which is an automatic no-go for me. I'm not using a real number that is tied back to my name. Which it always make me laugh went they say that because 9/10 times after you google their number, it'll almost always come back as a VoIP number so it's a "rules for thee but not for me" thing.
