If you drive 15 - 20 minutes out of Detroit the suburbs are very nuce. Houses can easily go for over 500 K.

I second your well-made comments. Have spent time there in the past (business and / or hockey games) and it's one shady place. I've been more comfortable in Colombia and Nicaragua and my Spanish sucks.
