I don't really trust these types of articles. They even admit at the beginning "While there's no way to say with absolute certainty that the figures are correct, they were supported by enough people to at least seem roughly right. " And for the slowly dying news media to even admit there's a possibility that they're wrong, it must mean their sources are even less reliable than "The politician we hate eats baby livers for sexual pleasure" or whatever nonsense they spout.

It's been a few years but anytime I book a pornstar through a reputable site, it's always cost me $1200 for an hour. They were all pretty much available the day I request unless they're touring in another city (so they're probably getting less clients than they would like).

I'm no econ major but if the most they can make from a legitimate porn shoot is $1500, I would imagine they would offer up private services for cheaper than $1200 since they don't have to deal with taxes / agent fees / whatnot-- plus it probably means they're hurting for money. For example, back then Lexi Belle wanted $5,000 per hour because I presume she didn't need the money and / or she commanded more in legitimate shoots. And I doubt she had an elite client base because even the booker was like "She said 5 k LOL".

Maybe pornhub killed the traditional porn industry so everyone is getting paid less but I doubt it. The same stars that charged 1200 back then are now charging 1500+ today.

Once again, just an uneducated assumption but to me, that would mean they get paid noticeably more than 1500 for a boy / girl scene from legitimate shoots.

I mean, if private sex work was more lucrative than traditional porn, wouldn't there be an influx of pornstars rushing to hooker sites? And wouldn't that mean they'd undercut each other for more business?
