Sounds like it's more of network issue than with your phone. Meaning maybe coincidentally they're all on Boost pre paid phones or something and they had network issues for a while.

If you were corresponding with others with no issue I don't suspect it's your device. But stuff like that is hard to trace, especially on phones.

PC's could be a little easier but chalk it up to bad timing somewhere in the pipeline of techland.

If you're using an app, restart it and delete the app cache.

Restart the phone.

Connect to wifi.

Either it got hung up in the network, or you didn't have service. If that's the case the above is pretty much all you can do.
