Remembering back to the Craft issue of last year I am wondering what happens when pulled over after an AMP visit? The method used on the east coast was to follow an AMP visitor and look for a minor traffic infraction then pull them over. What is the situation if there is no infraction, but nevertheless LE does stop a vehicle? I have heard of a recent LE visit to a Naples AMP where they did not attempt to enter the massage room, but did question visitors upon leaving. Not going to provide the AMP's name for privacy please.

If LE uses some minor (real or alleged) traffic infraction to stop you, it'll be crystal clear because the focus of the stop will quickly shift away from traffic issues and they'll start asking questions about the AMP.

Some would advise taking a hard line and refusing to answer questions, or that you won't without a lawyer present, but that'll likely piss off the cops and they'll look for any way they can to screw with you.

A better strategy, IMHO, is for you to stay focused on the traffic stop and act confused when they try to change the subject. Cops hate it when people respond to their questions with another question. If each time they ask about AMP stuff you say something like "I don't understand why you stopped me. What was wrong with my driving? They'll quickly get frustrated. They might write you a ticket, or maybe not. But at least a frustrated cop is usually not as bad as one that's pissed.

If, for any reason, you feel backed into a corner and feel you have to say something about the AMP, just stick to the story that you had a legit massage, nothing more. Don't provide any extra details and don't fall for any ruse in which they claim to have info from people at the AMP. For example, cop says the AMP said you paid $ for a sex act. Your response is that that's a damn lie (the more outrage, the better)!

Bottom-line, focus on the traffic stop (only); ask questions, act confused, and be frustrating without being confrontational; stick to the legit massage story, if you need to go there, but stay vague and provide no details.

It's important to keep in mind that if they had probable cause to arrest you they wouldn't need to do a pretext traffic stop. The tactic of asking a lot of questions is designed to get you to contradict yourself or say something that's clearly a lie. Don't fall into that trap.

Finally, if there's no traffic stop at all, just questions after you leave an AMP, the same strategies apply minus the traffic stuff. You can still act confused as to why you're being questioned and use that as your starting point.

P.S. Some cops will threaten to call your SO, or your work, to put you under increased pressure. Don't fall for that despicable tactic. Keep repeating that you're confused as to why you were stopped and even more confused as to why your SO or employer should be involved in any way.

P. P.S. In a perverse way, if you're in a jurisdiction where the cops are wearing body cameras, that should help you because after a few minutes it'll be obvious that the cops are playing games. You could even turn that to your advantage by asking if the encounter is being recorded and, if not, why not?

The key is play it safe. I frequently park a little further away, in front of a grocery store and walk through or around the store, then exit to the AMP. On departure is is the same thing walk back through the produce and buy some fruit then exit to my car. Depending on time of year wear a hat and take it off. But the best method when driving is don't break any rules. If they stop you for a minor violation you don't have to tell them where you have been or where you are going. "Officer I don't believe the question has anything to do with the sighted violation," or "I'm not answer any questions, 4th amendment. " Or, if Cop stops you with no noted violation and wants your ID, etc. Ask if you are being detained or am I free to go. In most states you do not have to provide you ID unless you have broken the law.
